[goban diagram=true move=28 limits=10,10,0,0 sgf=https://openstudyroom.org/forum/attachment/88/ width=200px float=right] Dear Master Guo Juan,

In two game this situation happened to me and I don't know how to answer.

The situation comes after this joseki (move 28) after black tenuki and white plays G3.

move 32: I always saw black answering at B but in the game, black hane at A. [/goban]

My idea was to play this in sente but it seems that black is gaining sente by playing at A.

I crosscut to try gaining sente but the results seems good for black.

My questions hence are:

Why does black usually answer at B?

Can white punish? if so how?
